Heart cake pop

I had a little extra pound cake left over and decided to make these....

Heart cake pops... made with pound cake!

ps. The other side of the pops were prettier...
but the not-so-successful attempt at pipping was not!

All I did was cookie cutter my way though some pound cake,
dip them in chocolate, and stick in the freezer for a little bit
(I'm a little inpatient and like them to cool asap!).

I've found that instead of using a double boiler for dipping pops,
a glass cup in some mildly boiling water is a great trick!
The cup is wide enough but still gives enough depth for the pops to be dunked!

Wish I may, Wish I might

I wish I was studying in this cute little Savannah bakery today;
and of course with a cupcake, maybe two, and a nice cup of jo!
Heck, I wouldn't even mind having one of my study books with me this place is so cute!

Moonshine

Okay, here it is you guys/girls... My week late, but still special Valentines!
With not a lot of time or money to spend on this project I still wanted things to be cute, comfortable, and clean looking. First off, I knew I wanted to use the little outdoor space at GK's apartment to set up dinner (that I carried out from one of my favorite restaurants, Moonshine, which was also my muse for the evening).

So in a rush to get things set up before GK showed up in FIVE MINUTES
the photos fail to capture the red pillows on the chairs,
napkins, red wine, and wine glasses.
It does however point out that I accidentally placed the fork and knife
on the wrong sides of the plates....oops!... again, I was super rushed.

I used an old tin to hold the cornbread muffins, tore white paper into "circles" to
go under the plates, and used the red background initials I drew on
newspaper to add decoration to the glass plates, even though they were suppose to go on napkin rings, but there was no time for that.

For the really fun part of the table, I transferred the tulips and bow
I already had into a mason jar,
tied the hand drawn "I love you" newspaper sign to a plaque, thew in some votives,
a silver tray, and mini dessert tray.

For the mini cakes, I used different sized heart cookie cutters to cut through some pound cake.
I used red icing to cover the cakes and white icing to pip the letters.
(Needless to say, pipping skills still need some work... when I have more time!)

Sneak Peak

My handsome beau and I are celebrating Valentines a little late.
Here's a sneak peak of a surprise I have planned...

Sweet Tulips!

Happy Valentines Day!

I love fresh flowers! I think any day of the year is a good day to have
beautiful flowers in your house! Today, I have pink and red tulips!
They help make my bedside table so cute! It's now my favorite place in the room!

Ps. I added the little black bow to the vase... I think it completes the look!

Oh, and one more thing, when cutting flowers for a vase,
cut the stems under water so the flowers will absorb water instead of air.
Helps make them last longer. I usually do this by filling up a large mixing bowl.
This makes for an easy clean up too with all the cut off stems in one place!

Birthday Sprinkles

A friend of mine celebrated her birthday a recently and I thought it would be fun to bring a little something sweet! So I started thinking... flowers, cute little gift, cupcakes... I couldn't seem to settle on anything. So, why not combine all those ideas with a cake pop bouquet?

I used red velvet cake with cream cheese icing for the cake and white almond bark for the coating (I had these things left over from Christmas). And what's a birthday without sprinkles? My handsome helper decided that girls should have pastel sprinkles and boys should have primary color sprinkles. To make it a cute little gift I covered the pops with treat bags and sealed them with a bow from extra fabric I had laying around. Tearing the fabric, instead of cutting it, into long strips adds a little character to the bow. Don't you think?

I wish I would have remembered to take pictures earlier...
but here's a picture of the mini bouquet after it had been a little picked over!

Here's the little tag I cut out for the birthday girl!
